The right of reply

Enough is enough. People who proclaim to fight for freedom of expression and free media but censors other's legitimate reply based on their whims and fancy, must realise that on the internet, they cannot suppress peoples' legitimate right to reply and express contrarian views. 8th or 9th march dissolution?

I don’t understand why people like to spread falsehood and then blame third party for their own ignorance.

Now there is a false propaganda being spread that our parliament must dissolve by 8th or 9th March. Then the allegation is that if EC doesn’t do anything, EC is bias.

The answer to this is easily available in our constitution. Article 55 (3) states:

“Parliament unless sooner dissolved shall continue for five years from the date of its first meeting and shall then stand dissolved.”

Our first session was on 28th April. It doesn’t take a genius to know that it cannot be March 8.

Even if one does not understand our constitution, one can easily refer to Wikipedia. It says:

“The 12th Malaysian Parliament is the current meeting of the legislative branch of the government of Malaysia… It is scheduled to meet at the Malaysian Houses of Parliament from 28 April 2008 until the Yang di-Pertuan Agong next dissolves Parliament, or 29 April 2013, when it will automatically dissolve itself under the Constitution of Malaysia.”

It was written prior to commencement of the 12th parliamentary session long ago.

I hope the above is crystal clear. There is no reason to blame a third party like the EC for the ignorance created by ourselves.

  1. This rumour, and all of the similar kind, are widely spread in the Opposition-leaning AM and Blogsites just to heap unjustified blames on the BN & the Government as they assume the vast majority of the voters are ignorant of the laws.
